Frequently Asked Questions
Before you drop us a line, check if your question is answered here:
Q: How accurate is the DPI Analyzer?
A: We work hard to keep our measurements sharp. Our tool calculates DPI based on your physical mouse movement, screen resolution, and pixel tracking. That said, your results can vary if you move the mouse at an angle, have mouse acceleration on, or measure distance inaccurately. Use a ruler and run the test 3 times for best results.
Q: My DPI result seems way off. What gives?
A: First, make sure you’ve disabled “Enhance pointer precision” (Windows) or mouse acceleration (Mac). Also, check that you entered the correct movement distance (inches or cm) and moved the mouse perfectly straight. A crooked line or different mouse pad surface can affect readings.
Q: Can you add support for more mice or sensor types?
A: Absolutely! Our tool works with any mouse – wired, wireless, even trackpads. But if you have a specific model that behaves strangely, use the contact form above and select “Bug Report” or “Feature Request.”
Q: Does this tool work on my operating system?
A: Yes. It runs in any modern browser – Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS. No downloads needed.
Q: Is this really free? What’s the catch?
A: No catch. We’re tech enthusiasts who got tired of guessing our real DPI, so we built a better way. The tool stays free because sensitivity info should be accessible to everyone.
Q: Can I use this tool to change my DPI?
A: No – this is a measurement tool only. It tells you your current DPI, but doesn’t change it. To change DPI, use your mouse’s DPI button, manufacturer software, or Windows/Mac pointer settings.
